Thatched

Yep....record rain has put us behind but we finally have a roof!!!

Our plumbing rough in was also completed. Due to layoffs at the county that they will only do one inspection for plumbing, electrical, HVAC and framing. Unfortunately that means our plumber who lives 3 hours away and is going to have to come down for an extra trip.

Our future jetted tub is now framed in.

The next exciting part is that our fireplace is making some definite progress. Here's Jim and he is meticulous in his work. We came up one day and he had taken half of it down. I guess there was something he didn't like. Anyways....it looks great! I can't wait to make our first fire this fall!

Here is another shot of the fireplace.

So even though we've had our setbacks....things are coming along!! Electrical and HVAC would be installed next week.

  1. I love the keystone work around the fireplace. That is kind of my plan for ours. Thanks for posting it.

  2. Theresa...you are very welcome. You have no idea how helpful your posts have been. I do have a few questions for you.
What size can lights did you use on the barrel ceilings?
Also,I am planning on using grey travertine in my bathroom as well and am wondering what tile company you ended up buying it from.
    Thanks!

  3. We used 5 inch lights. We are going to use BR30 CFL bulbs. They sit inside the fixture instead of the larger ones that are flush to the ceiling. We used 6 inch in the apartment and they are just a little too big. It is a personal preference though. I am going to update today and I will post a picture.
We got the silver travertine, honed and filled, through Stone And Wood Outlet in Portland, but Home Depot carries it. HD is pretty good about matching prices so if you can find it online for a better price, print it out and take it to HD and see what they say. Or look locally and ask for their best price. Many places are willing to bargain as much as a third for materials.
